How do I use my own web address instead of a Bellstrike web address?
Custom domains let you use your own web address (like www.yournonprofit.org) instead of a Bellstrike web address (like www.yournonprofit.bellstrike.com). The process to make this happen can be a tad tricky since each domain registrar may locate their DNS settings in different places, use differing terminology, and have a different process for changing DNS settings. If you're having trouble, you might want to find a techie to help you out.
-
Sign in to your DNS provider. This is usually your domain registrar - who you bought your web address from.
-
Find the DNS settings area for your domain.
-
Create a CNAME host called www and point it to proxy.bellstrike.com
-
Save the changes. It may take several hours for your changes to take place.
-
Sign in to your Bellstrike account
-
Click on the Site Wide Options button
-
Click on the General Info button
-
Click Change on the Your Web Address section
-
Type in your custom web address. Be sure to include the "www" (for example: www.yournonprofit.org)
-
Click Save
